I'll Glow for the Holidays: Bobbi Brown Party Shimmer Brick

Party Shimmer BrickI almost dropped my glass of apple cider when I saw this in a Lord and Taylor ad in my latest Allure (or was it Glamour...hmm).

"For the holiday season, Bobbi adds Party Shimmer Brick to her iconic collection. This high luster combo of silver and gold will brighten your face for a glowing effect."

Clinique Black Honey Goes Gel!

Did youthink that Clinique was done creating new Black Honey items? Well, my friend, we were wrong. From that classic lip shade to the perfect luminizer, Clinique's Black Honey is popping up popular again five decades later.

Caramel Apples for Braces: BBW Caramel Apple Deep Cleansing Anti-Bacterial Hand Soap!

It's not technically, mine, but it's in the house (good enough!). Today, my mother came hope with a bag filled to the brim with Bath and Body Works products. Half of these items were luscious anti-bacterial hand soaps, and the rest were for her personal use:( . But I forgive her (:P), because the succulent scent of the Caramel Apple Hand Soap made up for her "selfishness".

PRICE: Currently $2.75 for 237ml

The Claim:This powerful germ-killing hand soap is enriched with an exclusive moisturizing blend to help hydrate and soften skin as powerful ingredients leave dirty hands clean and lightly scented with a mouthwatering blend of golden apple and creamy caramel.

The Verdict: This hand soap really does get the job done. Hands are left clean and delicately scented. I'm not really seeing a huge difference in the hydration levels of my hands, but slathering on some BBW Warm Vanilla Sugar Hand Cream sure does the trick! The scent is mouth-watering: vanilla-y cinnamon and tart apples. Ah..So good:)

I'm truly very thankful for this product. I got braces in June, and caramel apples must be avoided at all costs. It's rather hard to resist their goodness, so luckily this product was launched. It's almost..better than real ones. Oh, what am I kidding! Nothing tops the chewy caramel and  sour taste of crisp green apples. But this is the closest zero calorie item to them.

I'm in a car, so I really must end this post and skip the PROS and CONS. Apologies, reader. You will also get images later, I have yet to take pictures of the hand soap.

XOXO,
Gabby

The Weekly Wonder: Bold or Subtle Lipstick?

You know what it's time for...? The Mangos+Cream Weekly Wonder!

Getting Glossy with Clinique's Fall in Love With Colour Set

Out of the entire Clinique Fall in Love With Colour Set ($42.00), the two glosses are my favorite (well, at least one is...:D).

In this set you'll find Clinique Long Last Glazewear in Sunset and Superbalm Moisturizing Gloss in Currant along with many other items.

Chocolate for Your Lips, Not Your Mouth!

While alternating between Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister and November's issue of Allure, I discovered Jane Iredale's Chocoholicks: a palette of four succulent glosses that carry the aromas of various chocolates."A compact with four irresistable chocolate-y shades in one compact to create a range of day and night looks. It's housed in a sleeved, slim palette for optimal portability and includes a retractable gold lip brush to ensure precise application and clean storage. Four shades and flavors of hydrating glosses provide a delicious array of options of your lips and your palate."

Online Clinique Bonus is Finally Here!

To start off, I apologize for not reviewing the rest of Clinique's Fall in Love With Colour Set ($42.00). Teachers decided to torture me with loads of homework, so I barely have time to write this. But you all deserve something, so I thought I would discuss with you Clinique's new 7-piece online bonus! Simply chose one item from each category (plus a silver cosmetics bag) and receive it along with your $21.50 purchase. In my opinion, this is the BEST bonus that Clinique's had. Powder foundation? That's a first!

Strike that Lilac Rich with Limited Edition Colour Surge Eye Shadow Palette:

Confused? Read the first part of this series of posts here.

Instead of picking up Strawberry Fudge Shadow Duo (I'll get that later..:D), I opted for Clinique's Fall in Love With Colour. When opening, the first thing I dove for was the Limited Edition Colour Surge Eye Shadow Palette. It Contained 5 gorgeous shadows and a miniature Cream Shaper for Eyes in Chocolate Lustre (A chocolate brown with reddish copper shimmer). Together, I created a neutral eye and for later in the day, I simply just added the lavender shades to the look. Plus, the palette fits in my purse!

I'm Falling In Love with Clinique...and Color with Clinique's Fall in Love With Colour Set!

In celebration of good grades (and life), I picked up a fancy Clinique set along with a free bonus. Their Fall in Love With Color Set ($42.00), complete with a metallic cosmetic bag and an abundance of fragrance-free makeup items.
With this $42.00 set, you're getting...

I Dream of Creamy with Maybelline's Define-A-Line in Navy Blue!

Finding the perfect eyeliner is almost as challenging as meeting the perfect boy. I have standards (for eyeliner..that is). I expect it to hold on, regardless of the weather..or my emotions. At the end of the day, the liner should come off with the rest of my camoflauge. It should glide on to your eyes and create a line worthy of  at least choir angels.

A Party on Your Nails: Introducing...Stila Nail Polish!

Daring Set- Confetti, Firecracker, Disco Ball, City Lights

I don't know about you, but I usually am attracted to products with amaing names, so I'm glad Stila gave their nail polish somewhat good ones. Disco Ball, Stardust, Chandelier, and of course, Kitten are all names included in Stila's new nail polish sets. I have yet to try these, but from the looks of it, they seem like pretty nice polishes. Each $24.00 set only contains polishes with glitter strewn throughout the bottle (my favorite..).

Sephora Monopoly!?

I'd thought I'd seen it all when Dog Monopoly came out, but clearly, I was so wrong!

I'll Be Sephora for the Holidays!

Does anybody else still find it amusing that it's October, yet holiday lines have been out for a while now? Well, I do. Anyways...

Cream Eyeshadow Set ($40 Value)I was really excited to find out that Sephora just released a set of 5 cream shadows for $22.00 (A $40.00 value)

Sephora says the Cream Eyeshadow Set is...

"A set of five shimmery eye shadows with a soft, blendable texture to create a range of fun, frosted looks. These five creamy formulas are easy to blend and fun to play with. With pretty shimmer finishes, each color is perfect for any season. Use either alone, as a base before powder eye shadow, or to highlight the brow bone."

Get False Lashes Daily with Maybelline's XXL PRO Extensions Mascara

When "XXL" is featured in a mascara's name, you expect it to give you almost false-looking lashes. Luckily, Maybelline's XXL Pro Extensions Mascara lives up to its name. I had always thought that Revlon's Growluscious was making my lashes miraculously lengthened, defined, and volumized. Until I met this mascara, I was clueless about how long my lashes could stretch. This double-ended miracle comes with a white base (step 1) and a mascara (step 2). The white base lengthens, defines, and coats tips in a lightweight white formula to see the true length of lashes. Maybelline says the first step "tames unruly lashes and locks them in place". The mascara end defines, darkens, curls, and volumizes lashes for a false-looking effect.

Get "Just Ate a Popsicle" Lips in the Winter with Nivea a Kiss of Flavor in Cherry!

I
f it weren't for coupons, I would've not been talking about this lovely lip balm for you today. A few weeks ago, I discovered a $3 off coupon for two Nivea lip items. After a little research and cutting, I finally went to RiteAid to stock up. With the deals I was getting, I purchased two lip balms and only paid $2 instead of the regular $6 for two. Oh, coupons...

Winter Makeup Du Jour --Lancome Color Design Shadow

I scored this Lancome palette last year, but it wasn't until this October that I realized its powers. They were smooth, pigmented, and came in a perfect color selection for winter. With the sparkling black (The New Black) and the metallic silver (Style Section) you can create a gorgeous smokey eye. Color Du Jour (the golden purple shade) works well with practically anything!

I Need Zom-Body To Love -- OPI Pair'Em Scare'Em Set

BOO!

(Yes, I just started this post with an attempt to virtually scare you.)
I purchased these about a week ago for a mere $6.00 at my local salon. I was considering buying Black Shatter before, but I never had the guts to pay full-prize. When I saw this, I simply couldn't resist. Two OPIs for $6? Score! Ann (not-justapretty-face.blogspot.com) also managed to get one of these sets.

Kate Winslet Holiday Colour to Support Autism!

The beginning of October brought disappointment for my Lancome-obsessed self. I would watch as other brands began to sell BCA items, while Lancome did nothing in the sort. Finally, I paid their site a visit, only to discover their recently launched collection: Kate Winslet Holiday Colour. I was overjoyed to see that they released a collection that would benefit something. Oddly, this collection supported autism instead of breast cancer. That will not stop me from purchasing, however. A cause is a cause, regardless of the month.
Here are the products that Kate Winslet Holiday Colour features:

Wanna Be Bold? - Lancome Color Design Lipstick in Wannabe

If it weren't for Lancome Bonuses, I would've never discovered this amazing lipstick. Lancome's Color Design lipsticks are creamy, pigmented, and long-lasting. Wannabe gives your lips a bold pop of color with a shiny finish that lasts the entire day. If only a 13-year-old could actually get away with this lipstick...

The Claim: If your lips long for full, fade-free color in tempting textures, and a shade selection that would inspire any makeup artist; the search is over. This luxurious lipstick is infused with soothing ingredients, so lips feel soft and comforted all day. Choose from four fabulous finishes: cream, sheen, shimmer, metallic and matte.

The Verdict: This lipstick does in fact keep lips feeling soft all day. It only requires one touchup per day when on my pout. Color goes on smooth and pigmented.

PROS
  • Goes on smooth
  • Gorgeous, bold shade (vivid purple raspberry/magenta)
  • Requires only one touchup
  • Shiny finish
  • Moisturizes and conditions lips
CONS
  • On the expensive side
  • Fades throughout the day: requires a touchup

Plump it Up! --Revlon Growluscious Plumping Mascara

From the moment I saw the packaging with an ombre effect, I knew I had to have it. A close friend of mine had applied it to my lashes before, but she never did it right (no offense...). It wasn't until I mustered up the courage to purchase it myself that I fell in love with this mascara. The brush was HUGE and the formula was a midnight black. Each bristle seperated lashes and stretched them longer than any mascara had ever done before. The only issue I had with it was that it was hard to take off, even with my Lancome Bi-Facil.

The size of the brush compared to my Lancome Definicils.

THE CLAIM: Conditioning formula helps strengthen and plump lashes for up to 200% instantly for maximum volume

THE VERDICT: To my surprise, I'm actually seeing a slight difference in lash length even without mascara. I guess you could say you get a moderate of volume and curl, but definitely not by 200%.I do have an issue with taking it off. However, the length it makes my lashes blew me away.

PRICE: $7.99

PROS
  • Jet black formula darkens even the lightest lashes
  • Huge brush = Moderate volume and curl
  • Extremely lengthening
  • Under $10
  • Conditions lashes
  • Helps lashes to grow longer (It's working!)
  • Very liquid formula = darkens lashes, clump-free

CONS
  • I struggle to take this off with my makeup remover

WHERE TO BUY
  • CVS
  • Walgreens
  • Revlon.com
  • RiteAid
  • Other drugstores
  • Websites that sell drugstore cosmetics
